About Luar La L
Raúl Armando del Valle Robles, known by his stage name Luar La L, is a prominent Puerto Rican trap, reggaeton, and drill artist born on May 29, 2000, in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Raised in a family with strong cultural ties, he is the son of former Miss Puerto Rico, Brenda Robles, and Raúl Montero. Luar spent much of his early childhood with his grandparents, where he experienced a traditional Catholic upbringing, which included the customary baptism ceremony to reaffirm his faith. His education began in Río Grande, Puerto Rico, but during his teenage years, he moved with his mother to Washington, California, in pursuit of a better life and a focus on music. Unfortunately, after their plans did not materialize, they returned to Puerto Rico, where Luar would ultimately carve out his musical career.
Luar La L’s journey into music began with freestyle rap battles, where he honed his skills alongside notable freestyler Eduardo Cebador from Spain. This exposure allowed him to gain a following on social media, where he began sharing his music. Initially focusing on rap, he soon expanded his repertoire to include reggaeton and trap, genres that would define his career. His professional breakthrough came in 2018 and 2019 with a series of singles, including “Guayoteo,” “Comerte,” and “El Bote.” These tracks set the stage for his subsequent rise in the Puerto Rican music scene.
In early 2020, Luar became part of the production group Los G4, collaborating on various singles that showcased his evolving style. His talent caught the attention of Elías, the founder of White Lion Records, who signed him to the label. Luar’s first release under this new banner was the single “Algo Diferente,” featuring Izaak. The same year, he released his debut EP, L3TRA, which included hit songs such as “Side Bitch,” “Caile,” and “Figure Public.” This EP significantly elevated his profile both nationally and internationally.
The year 2021 marked a turning point in Luar’s career as he collaborated with renowned artists like Bad Bunny on the single “100 Millones,” which further propelled his popularity. He also worked with other notable musicians, including Jon Z and Farruko, solidifying his status as a rising star in the reggaeton and trap genres. His second EP, Subiendo de Precio, released in November 2021, featured collaborations with influential artists like Ñengo Flow, showcasing his ability to connect with other talents in the industry.
In 2022, Luar continued to build on his success with collaborations and releases that resonated with fans. His album L3TRA 2, released on December 18, 2022, was a sequel to his debut EP and included twelve solo tracks, further demonstrating his growth as an artist. By August 2023, he achieved a significant milestone with a sold-out concert at the Coca-Cola Music Hall, where he performed 39 songs and featured guest appearances from other artists, enhancing his reputation as a live performer.
Despite his musical achievements, Luar’s personal life has been marred by controversy. In June 2021, he was arrested in connection with a friend’s murder but was released without charges the following day. In May 2023, he faced legal issues again when he was arrested for possession of drugs and illegal weapons, highlighting the challenges he has navigated throughout his career.
Overall, Luar La L has emerged as a significant figure in the contemporary Puerto Rican music scene, known for his energetic style and impactful collaborations. With two studio albums and several EPs to his name, his journey is a testament to his talent and resilience in the competitive world of reggaeton and trap.
