Lights

Lights, born Valerie Anne Poxleitner on April 11, 1987, in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, is a renowned electropop singer-songwriter and musician. Over the years, she has established herself as a key figure in the music scene with her unique sound, blending synth-pop and electronic elements. Her discography includes six studio albums, such as The Listening (2009), Siberia (2011), Little Machines (2014), Skin&Earth (2017), Pep (2022), and her upcoming album, A6 (2025).

Growing up in a missionary family, Lights had a culturally rich upbringing, living in places like the Philippines, Jamaica, and Ontario. Her musical journey began early, with her father teaching her how to play guitar, sparking a lifelong passion for music. Lights first made her mark as a songwriter for the TV series Instant Star and released a self-titled EP in 2008 through Underground Operations.

Her work has earned her multiple accolades, including Juno Awards for Pop Album of the Year for both Little Machines and Skin&Earth. Lights has also ventured into the world of graphic novels, drawing inspiration from her Skin&Earth project to create her own stories and illustrations.

In her personal life, Lights married Beau Bokan, lead singer of Blessthefall, in 2012, and they have a daughter born in 2014. In 2017, she publicly came out as bisexual, adding another layer to her story. Through her evolving artistry, Lights continues to captivate audiences with her heartfelt lyrics and innovative musical creations.
