Lecrae

Lecrae Devaughn Moore, born October 9, 1979, in Houston, Texas, is a highly influential American rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer known for his faith-driven music and powerful storytelling. Raised in a challenging environment by his mother, Lecrae faced early adversity, including growing up without his father and being exposed to drugs and alcohol. At the age of 19, he underwent a spiritual awakening, embracing Christianity, which shaped his musical journey and the themes of hope and redemption in his work.

In 2004, Lecrae co-founded Reach Records, an independent label focused on faith-based hip-hop. His debut album, Real Talk, was released that same year, and by 2006, After the Music Stops had earned widespread recognition, topping gospel charts. His third album, Rebel (2008), expanded his reach, reaching the Billboard 200 and marking Lecrae’s breakthrough into mainstream music.

Lecrae’s career continued to soar with Gravity (2012), which earned him the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album, making him the first hip-hop artist to win in that category. His 2014 album, Anomaly, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, solidifying his place in the music industry. Lecrae’s music blends hip-hop with themes of faith, personal growth, and social justice, resonating with a diverse audience.

Beyond his musical accomplishments, Lecrae is an entrepreneur and social activist. He co-founded ReachLife Ministries to bridge the gap between faith and urban culture and authored his memoir, Unashamed (2016), offering a deeply personal account of his journey. Now residing in Atlanta with his wife, Darragh, and their three children, Lecrae continues to use his platform to inspire and create positive change through both music and activism.
