Kodie Shane, born Kodie Shantil Marr on October 28, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American rapper and singer recognized for blending hip-hop and alternative R&B in a unique way. Raised in Chicago, Illinois, she grew up in a musical family—her father, Danny C. Williams, was a member of the Detroit R&B group Rick, Ran & Dan, and her sister, Brandi Williams, was part of the platinum-selling girl group Blaque.

Kodie’s musical journey began at the age of 14 when she started rapping and recorded her first track, “Crown Me.” Her breakthrough came in 2016 with the release of her single “Sad,” featuring rapper Lil Yachty. The success of the song led to her joining Lil Yachty’s collective, the Sailing Team, as the only female member.

In December 2016, Kodie released her second EP, Zero Gravity, with “Sad” as the lead single. She continued to build her career with releases like Back to the Future in 2017 and her debut studio album Young HeartThrob in 2018.
