By the age of 15, he was already writing songs and sharing them on SoundCloud, which marked the beginning of his musical career.

In July 2016, Khalid released his debut single, “Location,” which quickly gained traction, peaking at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and earning quadruple platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song’s success catapulted Khalid into the spotlight, showcasing his unique blend of R&B, hip hop, pop, and pop-soul. His debut studio album, American Teen, followed in March 2017.
