KARINA (aespa)

Yoo Ji-min, better known by her stage name Karina, is a South Korean singer, rapper, and dancer, born on April 11, 2000, in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She is widely recognized as the leader and main dancer of the K-pop group aespa, which was formed by SM Entertainment in 2020. Karina quickly gained attention for her exceptional skills, captivating stage presence, and leadership within the group.

Before debuting with aespa, Karina had already garnered some attention in the K-pop industry, notably through her appearances in music videos, such as Taemin’s “Want.” She trained at SM Entertainment for four years after being discovered on social media in 2016. Her education included completing high school at Hansol High School before she opted to obtain a GED.

In addition to her work with aespa, Karina broadened her musical portfolio by joining the supergroup GOT the Beat in January 2022. The group debuted with the track “Step Back,” showcasing Karina’s versatility. She has also made a mark on television, hosting the travel program “Travel Diary Soul: Seoul” in 2021 and appearing in the 2024 show “Synchro U.”

Her contributions to music and performance have earned her multiple accolades, including the Rookie Award at the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards and the Female Solo Artist award at the 2025 Korea First Brand Awards.
