Liam Sylvester McLean, better known by his stage name Joker, is a British record producer born on January 30, 1989, in Bristol, England. He is credited with pioneering the “purple sound” subgenre, a distinctive style within bass music that blends elements of dubstep and grime. Joker’s innovative approach to production has made him a key figure in shaping the UK music scene, particularly in the realms of electronic and urban genres.

Joker first emerged on the music scene in 2007, quickly gaining attention for his fresh take on bass music. By 2009, XLR8R magazine dubbed him the “king of bass music,” a title that underscored his growing influence. His collaborations with prominent artists such as Jessie Ware and Freddie Gibbs helped him further cement his place as a versatile producer, known for blending a range of musical influences into his tracks.

Over the course of his career, Joker has released two studio albums: The Vision (2011) and The Mainframe (2015).
