Jamey Jasta, born James Shanahan on August 7, 1977, in West Haven, Connecticut, is a renowned American singer, songwriter, and one of the most influential figures in the hardcore and metal scenes. He is best known as the lead vocalist of Hatebreed, a metalcore band he co-founded in 1994. With his powerful voice and intense stage presence, Jasta helped shape the sound of modern hardcore music. Beyond his work with Hatebreed, he has also been a key member of other musical projects, such as Kingdom of Sorrow and Icepick.

Jasta’s influence stretches beyond the music itself. From 2003 to 2007, he hosted MTV’s “Headbangers Ball,” which introduced many heavy metal and hardcore acts to a broader audience. He also presented the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards in 2007, further solidifying his status in the metal community.

In addition to his music career, Jasta is an entrepreneur. He founded Stillborn Records, a label focused on hardcore and metal acts, and launched the clothing line Hatewear. In 2011, he released his solo album “Jasta,” which featured collaborations with artists like Randy Blythe of Lamb of God and Zakk Wylde.
