J Boog

J Boog, born Jerry Fealofani Afemata on August 11, 1983, in Long Beach, California, is a distinguished American-Samoan reggae artist known for his soulful voice and unique blend of reggae, R&B, hip-hop, and rock. Raised in Compton, California, J Boog was deeply influenced by his Samoan roots, and his early exposure to reggae music, particularly through his sister’s piano renditions of Bob Marley’s songs, helped shape his musical identity.

J Boog’s musical journey began at a young age, and by the time he was nine, he was performing publicly at a family reunion, singing Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time.” This sparked his passion for music, which he continued to pursue throughout his life. In 2005, while vacationing in Hawaii, J Boog met Fijian reggae artist George “Fiji” Veikoso, who became a mentor and collaborator. This partnership led to his debut album, Hear Me Roar, released in 2007, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

Following the success of his debut, J Boog went on to release several more albums, including Backyard Boogie (2011) and Wash House Ting (2016), both of which reached the top of the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Known for hits like “Let’s Do It Again” and “Sunshine Girl,” J Boog’s music resonates with diverse audiences due to its blend of authentic reggae rhythms and heartfelt lyrics.

In 2023, J Boog released his fourth studio album, Pennies From Heaven, continuing to captivate listeners with his signature sound. With his deep cultural influences and ever-evolving musical style, J Boog remains a vital figure in contemporary reggae music.
