About Isabel Aaiún

Isabel Aaiún, born Isabel Casado in 1987 in Madrid and raised in the quiet town of Veganzones, Segovia, is a Spanish singer-songwriter who’s redefining the neofolk sound with raw emotion and powerful storytelling. Before stepping into the music world, Aaiún lived and breathed rural life—working as a professional horse trainer, riding instructor, and deeply immersed in the countryside she now often sings about.

Her musical journey began in 2019 when she collaborated with Pablo Mora (of Lagarto Amarillo) on “Mano Rota,” a heartfelt track that led to her signing with Níquel Records in 2020. But it was her breakout single “Potra Salvaje,” released in 2021, that truly put her on the map. A fiery anthem of freedom and female empowerment, the song took on a life of its own after DJ Fernando Moreno’s 2023 remix went viral. It became a rallying cry across Spain and an unofficial anthem during Euro 2024.

In 2024, she released her debut album La Potra Salvaje, produced by Michel K. Lowan and co-written with Mora. The record blends traditional Spanish rhythms—rumbas, rancheras, pasodobles—with a fresh neofolk twist, echoing the spirit of legends like Marifé de Triana and Rocío Jurado while sounding entirely her own. Known for her poetic lyrics and commanding voice, Aaiún sings from a place of grit and grace.

After a nationwide tour, including a sold-out show at Madrid’s WiZink Center, Isabel Aaiún continues to win hearts with her bold, soulful sound rooted in the land she comes from.
