Ice Cube, born O’Shea Jackson on June 15, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, is a highly influential rapper, songwriter, actor, and producer. Raised in South Central Los Angeles by his mother, Doris, a hospital clerk, and his father, Hosea, a UCLA groundskeeper, Ice Cube’s early life was shaped by the struggles and realities of urban life.

His music career began in the mid-1980s when he joined the group C.I.A., later becoming a key member of N.W.A., one of the most groundbreaking rap groups in history. As the main lyricist for N.W.A., Ice Cube’s powerful and controversial writing helped bring gangsta rap to the forefront of mainstream culture. After leaving N.W.A. in 1989 due to financial conflicts, he launched a successful solo career with the release of AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted (1990) and Death Certificate (1991), both of which were celebrated for their raw, insightful commentary on race, politics, and society.

In addition to his music, Ice Cube made a successful transition to acting, starring in the iconic 1991 film Boyz n the Hood and writing and producing the beloved comedy Friday (1995), where he also played the lead role of Craig Jones. His work in film continued with sequels like Next Friday (2000) and Friday After Next (2002).

Beyond entertainment, Ice Cube co-founded the BIG3 basketball league in 2017, offering a platform for former NBA players.
