Ahn Hye-jin, known professionally as HWASA, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and television personality who has made a significant impact on the K-pop scene since her debut. Born on July 23, 1995, in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, she grew up in a family with two older sisters and showed an early interest in music. Hwasa graduated from Wonkwang Information Arts High School and began her career as a part of the Dungeon Family, where she gained early recognition for her vocal talents. Inspired by artists like Beyoncé, Hwasa embraced her individuality, defying traditional beauty standards and carving her path in the industry.

Hwasa rose to fame in 2014 as a member of the girl group Mamamoo, formed by RBW Entertainment. The group debuted with their first EP, Hello, which featured the lead single “Mr. Ambiguous.” Hwasa quickly established herself as one of the group’s standout performers, contributing to the songwriting and composing of several tracks. Over the years, Mamamoo garnered a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim, known for their vocal prowess and dynamic stage presence. In 2023, Hwasa transitioned to P Nation, signing with the label founded by Psy. This change marked a new chapter in her career, allowing her greater creative freedom. She released her second digital single, “I Love My Body,” which resonated with audiences, further affirming her place in the industry. Her style, characterized by her powerful vocals and confident persona, continues to inspire many young artists and fans alike.
