Himra

Himra, born Bakayoko Abdul Rahim on May 28, 1998, in Cocody, Abidjan, is a rising star in the West African music scene whose raw talent and distinctive style have earned him a dedicated following. Inspired early on by French rappers like La Fouine and U.S. hip-hop giants such as Travis Scott, Young Thug, and ASAP Rocky, Himra began freestyling at just nine years old. He first gained public attention as part of the group SBS, which placed fourth in the Faya Flow competition, setting the stage for a promising solo journey.

In 2018, Himra launched his solo career with the release of Omega, a 14-track debut album that featured local collaborators like Aura Corp, Sabe Joroko, and Doliziana Debordo. His sound—a potent mix of drill and hardcore rap—is deeply rooted in his personal experiences and social commentary, capturing the struggles and hopes of his generation. Tracks like “Banger,” “Yorobo Drill Acte 3,” and “Solo” became breakout hits, amassing millions of views and streams and establishing him as a fresh voice in African hip-hop.

The momentum continued in 2024 with Jeune & Riche, a landmark album that earned double platinum certification in Côte d’Ivoire just six months after its release. The project’s success was crowned at the African Talent Awards, where Himra walked away with Best Francophone Album, Best Francophone Artist, and the Black Trophy—cementing his place as a major figure in African music.

Looking ahead, Himra is set to make waves internationally with a performance at the Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris on July 4, 2025. From freestyling in Abidjan to taking center stage in Europe, his story is one of passion, perseverance, and unstoppable creativity.
