Headie One

Irving Ampofo Adjei, better known as Headie One, is a pioneering figure in the UK drill music scene. Born on October 6, 1994, in Tottenham, North London, Headie One’s passion for rap ignited in his early teens. He co-founded the influential drill collective Original Farm Boys (OFB), a group rooted in the community of the Broadwater Farm Estate.

Headie’s rise to prominence began in 2018 with his mixtape The One, which featured tracks like “Golden Boot” and “Know Better” that became anthems in the underground scene. However, it was his 2019 hit “18Hunna” featuring Dave that catapulted him into mainstream recognition, peaking at number six on the UK Singles Chart. Later that year, his mixtape Music x Road reached number five on the UK Albums Chart, marking a significant milestone in his career.

In 2020, Headie released his debut studio album Edna, a heartfelt tribute to his late mother. The album made history by debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart, making Headie the first drill artist to achieve such a feat. It featured collaborations with top artists like Stormzy and AJ Tracey, blending drill with more melodic and experimental sounds.

Despite facing legal issues, including multiple imprisonments, Headie One continues to be a key figure in shaping UK music. His distinct flow and contributions to drill remain unmatched, solidifying his place as a leading force in the genre.
