About Haste The Day

Haste the Day was an American metalcore band formed in 2001 in Carmel, Indiana, known for their aggressive riffs, melodic elements, and Christian-themed lyrics. The band initially started as a trio, with brothers Brennan and Devin Chaulk and Mike Murphy. Shortly after, they added longtime friend Jason Barnes as a second guitarist. In 2002, Jimmy Ryan joined as the lead vocalist, and they self-produced their first EP, That They May Know You, which featured the popular track “Substance.” The band’s early efforts paid off when they signed with Solid State Records in 2003, marking the start of their professional journey.

The band’s debut album, Burning Bridges, was released in March 2004, showcasing their signature sound. This was followed by When Everything Falls in 2005, which included a music video for the title track. The band began gaining attention globally, and in late 2005, Ryan left, with Stephen Keech replacing him as lead vocalist. Haste the Day continued to gain momentum with albums like Pressure the Hinges (2007) and Dreamer (2008), both solidifying their position in the metalcore scene.

In 2008, Barnes departed due to personal differences, and Dave Krysl joined as a guitarist. Their final studio album, Attack of the Wolf King, was released in 2010. However, in November 2010, Haste the Day announced their breakup, with their last performance held in March 2011, marking the end of an era for the band. Despite their disbandment, their influence on the metalcore genre remained strong.

Haste the Day reunited in 2014 with both original and later members. The band launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to produce their final album, Coward, which was released in May 2015. This reunion allowed them to leave a lasting impact on the metalcore scene, blending their aggressive sound with heartfelt Christian themes, and earning a dedicated fanbase that continued to support them through the years.
