About Guchi

Ugochi Lydia Onuoha, professionally known as Guchi, is a Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter born in Kaduna, Nigeria. She hails from Mbaise in Imo State and is the second of four children. Raised in Abuja, Guchi developed a love for music early on, singing in her church choir from the age of seven. Influenced by global icons like Michael Jackson, she began exploring her musical talents at a young age.

Guchi launched her professional music career in 2012, experimenting with a blend of Afropop, dancehall, and highlife. In 2019, she signed with PG Records Entertainment and released her debut single “No Be Jazzy,” followed by her hit “Addicted” later that year. These tracks led to the release of her first EP, I Am Guchi, in October 2020, which further solidified her place in the Nigerian music scene.

Her 2021 hit “Jennifer” went viral on TikTok, propelling her to greater recognition. She later collaborated with Tanzanian artist Rayvanny for a remix of the song, which further expanded her reach. In the same year, her track “Benzema” reached number three on the Billboard Top Triller Global Chart. Guchi continued to shine with the release of “Shattered” in 2022.

Aside from her musical success, Guchi was named a two-year ambassador for Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in January 2020. Known for her signature love of purple, she has integrated the color into her brand and public image, making it a recognizable part of her identity.
