About Ghetto Kids
The Ghetto Kids, originally known as the Triplets Ghetto Kids, are a dynamic dance and music group from Uganda. The collective, which is made up primarily of children from the Katwe slums in Kampala, Uganda, is celebrated for its vibrant performances and inspiring journey from humble beginnings to international acclaim. The group was formed in 2014 by Daouda Kavuma, a local Ugandan entrepreneur who sought to provide a platform for talented young dancers from disadvantaged backgrounds. Their rise to fame began with the viral success of a video featuring members Alex, Fred, Bachir, Patricia, and Isaac dancing to Eddy Kenzo’s hit song “Sitya Loss,” which quickly amassed millions of views online.
Their viral video led to an official collaboration with Eddy Kenzo, where they starred in the music video for “Sitya Loss.” This marked the beginning of their journey into the spotlight, as the Ghetto Kids’ infectious energy caught the attention of both local and international audiences. Over time, they began to attract the attention of prominent artists, including P. Diddy and Nicki Minaj, further solidifying their place in the global entertainment scene. In 2017, the Ghetto Kids made an appearance in French Montana’s music video for the hit song “Unforgettable,” which contributed to their widespread international recognition.
In addition to their online success, the Ghetto Kids have performed on prestigious platforms, showcasing their talents to audiences around the world. Notably, they performed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where they brought their unique energy to an international stage. Their success continued with a groundbreaking appearance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2023. During their performance, they received the “golden buzzer,” propelling them straight into the finals and marking a historic moment for the group. Their participation in Britain’s Got Talent helped solidify their status as one of the most exciting and inspiring performance groups in the world.
Beyond their success in entertainment, the Ghetto Kids are also committed to giving back to their community. Operating through a non-governmental organization (NGO), they use music, dance, and drama to help disadvantaged, street, and orphaned children in Uganda. Their foundation provides crucial services like education, shelter, and emotional support, aiming to uplift and empower vulnerable youth who face challenging circumstances. The Ghetto Kids’ commitment to social impact is as strong as their artistic drive, making them a beacon of hope for many in their community.
In recent years, the Ghetto Kids have continued to expand their reach and influence. In early 2023, they performed at a Paris Saint-Germain football match, where they had the opportunity to meet renowned football stars like Kylian Mbappé. Later that year, they made their mark in Britain’s Got Talent, finishing in sixth place in the competition. Their incredible journey—from the slums of Kampala to performing for world leaders and top-tier celebrities—highlights not only their exceptional talent but also their unwavering resilience and dedication to making a difference through their art.
