Gesaffelstein, born Mike Lévy on June 24, 1985, in Lyon, France, is a key figure in the world of electronic music, known for his dark, industrial techno style. His journey into music began at 15 when he heard Green Velvet’s track “Flash,” igniting his passion for electronic sounds.

In 2003, Lévy moved to Paris to dive deeper into the city’s rich music culture, where he started producing under the name Gesaffelstein. Influenced by artists like Depeche Mode and the Detroit electro scene, he crafted a distinctive sound marked by precise sound design and heavy, resonant basslines.

Over the years, Gesaffelstein has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music. His contributions to Kanye West’s Yeezus album, particularly on tracks like “Black Skinhead” and “Send It Up,” earned him widespread recognition. He has also worked with The Weeknd on songs like “In the Night” and “Lost in the Fire,” as well as Pharrell Williams on “Blast Off.”

Gesaffelstein’s debut album, Aleph (2013), was highly praised for its innovative approach to techno, while his 2019 release Hyperion continued to showcase his unique style, featuring collaborations with The Weeknd and Pharrell. Known for his elusive public persona and minimalist approach, Gesaffelstein has earned the title of “the dark prince of techno.”

His blend of industrial elements with melodic layers has cemented his place as one of the most influential figures in modern electronic music.
