María Emilia Mernes Rueda, professionally known as Emilia, is a multifaceted Argentine singer, songwriter, model, and actress. Born on October 29, 1996, in Nogoyá, Entre Ríos, Emilia developed a passion for music at a young age. Her love for the craft began at the age of 12 when her grandfather gifted her a guitar, sparking her journey into the world of melodies and songwriting. Emilia’s early dedication to music grew as she nurtured her talents, learning to sing and dance while also perfecting her skills on the guitar. Her journey into the spotlight, however, began in a slightly different field—modeling. In 2012, she won a contest to become the face of the fashion brand 47 Street, marking her initial steps in the entertainment industry.

In 2016, Emilia’s career took a major turn when she was selected to replace Camila Rajchman as the lead vocalist for the popular Uruguayan cumbia pop band, Rombai. Her stint with the band brought her into the public eye as they performed on significant stages across Latin America, releasing several hit singles like “Cuando se Pone A Bailar” and “Que Rico Baila.” Despite the success, Emilia left the group in 2018 to focus on her solo career.
