Elle King, born Tanner Elle Schneider on July 3, 1989, in Los Angeles, has carved a distinct space in the music world with her gritty blend of country, rock, blues, and soul. Though the daughter of comedian Rob Schneider and model London King, Elle chose to forge her own path, adopting her mother’s surname early on to step outside of her father’s shadow.

Raised in Ohio, her love for music sparked at age nine when her stepfather gave her a record by the Donnas. That rebellious energy stuck with her. By her teens, she was teaching herself guitar and banjo, sneaking into New York clubs with a fake ID to perform live. Influenced by greats like Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and Hank Williams, her sound became a raw, emotional mix of the old and the new.

Her 2012 debut EP introduced her sultry voice and no-nonsense attitude, but it was her 2015 breakout hit “Ex’s & Oh’s” that launched her into the spotlight, earning two Grammy nominations. Albums like Shake the Spirit (2018) and Come Get Your Wife (2023) proved she’s more than a one-hit wonder—especially with the Miranda Lambert duet “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” topping country charts.
