About El Cuarteto de Nos
El Cuarteto de Nos is a groundbreaking rock band from Uruguay, formed in Montevideo in 1984. They’ve carved out a distinctive place in Latin American music by blending a wide range of styles, from alternative and rap rock to comedy and traditional Latin sounds. What really sets them apart are their clever, often witty lyrics that dive into existential questions and social issues, all delivered with a sharp sense of humor.
The band was started by brothers Roberto Musso (vocals and guitar) and Ricardo Musso (guitar and keyboards), alongside bassist Santiago Tavella and drummer Álvaro Pintos. Their 1994 album Otra Navidad en las Trincheras became a huge hit, marking their rise from local favorites to national stars with the best-selling rock album in Uruguay at the time.
In the late 2000s, they reinvented their sound with the Raro trilogy — Raro, Bipolar, and Porfiado — showcasing a bold mix of experimentation and genre-blending. Porfiado earned them Latin Grammy Awards for Best Pop/Rock Album and Best Rock Song in 2012, earning international recognition.
Though the lineup has shifted over time — with Santiago Tavella leaving in 2024 and new members stepping in — the band’s spirit remains strong. Their latest album, Puertas (2025), has been met with enthusiasm, supported by a tour hitting cities across Latin America and Europe.
With their unique sound and thoughtful lyrics, El Cuarteto de Nos continues to captivate listeners and hold a vital spot in Latin America’s music scene.
