David Adedeji Adeleke, widely known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer who has played a groundbreaking role in the rise of Afrobeats on the global stage. Born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Davido grew up in a wealthy and influential family but carved his own path in the music industry through raw talent and relentless passion. He initially studied business administration at Oakwood University in Alabama but dropped out to pursue music full-time—a decision that would define his career.

Davido’s musical breakthrough came in 2011 with the infectious single “Dami Duro”, part of his debut album Omo Baba Olowo, which earned him nationwide acclaim and marked the beginning of his meteoric rise. Known for fusing traditional African sounds with modern pop and R&B elements, he quickly became a household name not just in Nigeria but across Africa. His subsequent albums—A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), and Timeless (2023)—cemented his place in the international music scene, with hits that crossed borders and cultures.

In 2025, Davido returned with 5ive, a deeply personal and reflective project born from both grief and joy following the tragic passing of his son and the later arrival of twins. Aside from his music, Davido is recognized for his philanthropy, charismatic personality, and cultural impact.
