About Danielle Haim

Danielle Haim is more than just the lead guitarist and vocalist of the band Haim—she’s the driving creative force behind their signature sound. Born on February 16, 1989, in Los Angeles, she grew up in a household where music was second nature. Her father, an Israeli-born drummer, and her mother, a former school teacher with a passion for singing, instilled in her a deep love for rhythm and melody from an early age.

Her first taste of performing came with her family band, Rockinhaim, where she and her sisters covered classic rock songs. While still a teenager, she and her older sister, Este, briefly joined the pop group Valli Girls, but it wasn’t until Danielle hit the road as a touring guitarist for Jenny Lewis and later The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas that she realized her true calling—making music with her sisters. In 2007, Haim was born.

The trio’s breakthrough came with their 2013 debut album, Days Are Gone, a refreshing mix of pop, rock, and R&B that caught the industry’s attention. They followed it up with Something to Tell You (2017) and the critically acclaimed Women in Music Pt. III (2020), which earned them Grammy nominations and cemented their status as one of the most innovative bands of their generation.

Outside of Haim, Danielle has collaborated with artists like Vampire Weekend and Clairo, showcasing her versatility. She even made her acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza (2021), proving that her talents extend far beyond music.
