Daði Freyr

Daði Freyr Pétursson, known professionally as Daði Freyr, is an Icelandic musician celebrated for his infectious synth-pop melodies and captivating stage presence. Born on June 30, 1992, in Reykjavík, he spent part of his early childhood in Denmark before returning to Iceland. Daði developed a deep passion for music, eventually earning a BA in Music Management and Audio Production from Berlin in 2017, which helped hone his creative skills.

He first rose to international fame with his band Daði & Gagnamagnið when they were selected to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song “Think About Things.” Despite the event being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the track became a viral sensation, gaining millions of views and attracting support from celebrities such as Russell Crowe and Jennifer Garner. Daði’s return to Eurovision in 2021 with his song “10 Years” was met with even greater success, finishing in fourth place and cementing his place as a major figure in modern music.

Daði’s musical journey didn’t stop there. His 2023 album I Made An Album further showcases his ability to blend catchy synths with emotionally resonant lyrics. Now based in Berlin, Daði Freyr continues to inspire global audiences with his innovative sound and magnetic performances, maintaining his position as one of the most exciting artists in the synth-pop genre.
