José Fernando Cosculluela Suárez, better known as Cosculluela, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and songwriter who has left a lasting mark on the reggaeton and Latin trap scene. Born on October 15, 1980, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, he grew up in the upscale community of Palmas del Mar, where he was surrounded by a mix of cultures and influences. Though he initially gravitated towards sports like tennis and golf, music ultimately became his true passion.

At 16, Cosculluela began experimenting with rap and hip-hop, inspired by legendary Latin artists like Vico C. He started recording music with his brother, crafting raw tracks that would eventually shape his signature sound. His big break came in 2009 with the release of El Príncipe, his debut album, which skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Latin Urban chart. The album’s hit single, Solo a Solas, cemented his status as a rising star in the reggaeton world.

Building on his success, Cosculluela continued to dominate the genre with albums like El Niño (2011) and Blanco Perla (2016). Over the years, he has collaborated with some of Latin music’s biggest names, including Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, and Wisin & Yandel. His music blends reggaeton’s infectious rhythms with the grittiness of Latin trap, earning him a devoted global fanbase.

Despite his success, Cosculluela’s career has not been without controversy. He has faced legal challenges and public feuds, including a diss track controversy in 2018 and legal issues in 2025.
