Chhewang Lama

Chhewang Lama is a dynamic Nepali artist whose heartfelt music and authentic voice have made him a beloved figure in the country’s contemporary music scene. Born in the peaceful village of Banaku in Kavre District, he moved to Kathmandu at the age of eight to pursue his education. After earning a Management degree from Classic College International, Chhewang headed to the UK—where, far from home, his musical journey truly began.

It all started with a guitar and a phone. Around 2011, Chhewang began uploading raw acoustic covers to YouTube, performing Nepali, Hindi, and English songs. His emotional delivery and simplicity struck a chord with listeners, slowly building a dedicated online following. The support he received encouraged him to write and produce his own music—marking the start of a promising musical path.

In 2016, he returned to Nepal and dove headfirst into his music career. His 2019 breakout single “Lahure” quickly went viral, especially on TikTok, propelling him into the spotlight. With follow-ups like “Jaat,” which boldly tackled caste discrimination, Chhewang proved that his music wasn’t just about melody—it carried meaning.

Now with over a million YouTube subscribers and millions of views across his songs, including hits like “Timrai Maya Ma,” “Jaali Rumal,” and “Timro Naam,” Chhewang continues to evolve. As Managing Director of Daju Bhai Company and a mentor on The Voice Kids Nepal, he’s helping shape the sound of tomorrow.

With his blend of soul, social awareness, and catchy tunes, Chhewang Lama is more than an artist—he’s a movement in modern Nepali music.
