About Chase Atlantic

Chase Atlantic, occasionally stylized as CHASE ATLANTIC, is an Australian R&B band and production trio from Cairns, Queensland, formed in 2014. The group consists of Christian Anthony, Clinton Cave, and Mitchel Cave. Their unique blend of alternative pop, rock, and R&B has garnered significant attention in the music industry, establishing them as a prominent force in the contemporary music scene.

Before the formation of Chase Atlantic, Christian Anthony and Mitchel Cave were members of a boy band called What About Tonight. The group participated in the fourth season of The X Factor Australia in 2012, where they managed to make a notable impression despite being eliminated in week two, ultimately finishing in eleventh place. Their early experience in What About Tonight provided them with a foundation in the music industry, but it was their subsequent endeavors that set the stage for their later success.

Mitchel Cave’s older brother, Clinton Cave, had a successful YouTube channel known as ClintonCaveMusic. This platform was where the Cave brothers, alongside Christian Anthony, began to gain attention by releasing cover songs. In 2012, they released their first cover together, a rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven.” This collaboration marked the beginning of their journey as a musical trio. By 2013, they started performing together under the name K.I.D.S. (Kind Imaginations. Destructive Situations.), releasing their debut original song, “Addicted.” Although the K.I.D.S. content has since been deleted, this period laid the groundwork for their future endeavors.

In 2014, the trio officially adopted the name Chase Atlantic and released their debut EP, Dalliance, on May 26, 2014. Initially, their sound was characterized by pop rock and pop punk influences. However, it was with the release of their second EP, Nostalgia, in February 2015, that the band began to gain more widespread recognition. The track “Friends” from this EP became popular on Tumblr and was certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in 2022. This period also saw the band signing with Benji and Joel Madden’s management company, MDDN, in early 2016.

Chase Atlantic’s musical evolution continued with the release of several EPs and their self-titled debut album, Chase Atlantic, in October 2017. This debut marked a significant step in their career, featuring a mix of their alternative pop and R&B influences. Their tours in the United States and Australia, including opening for artists like Blackbear, helped to cement their reputation as a dynamic live act. In 2018, they toured extensively, opening for Lights and playing major festivals such as Bonnaroo and Vans Warped Tour.

The years 2019 to 2022 were pivotal for Chase Atlantic, with the release of their second album, Phases, in June 2019. The album was supported by singles like “HER” and “STUCKINMYBRAIN.” In 2020, they began work on their third studio album, Beauty in Death, which was released on March 5, 2021. This album was complemented by a collaboration with dark pop artist PLVTINUM on the track “Hit My Line.” In May 2022, they released a deluxe edition of Beauty in Death, further expanding their musical catalog.

In 2023, after a brief hiatus, Chase Atlantic made their return with the single “MAMACITA,” released on September 26, 2023. This track marked the beginning of a new era for the band. On August 23, 2024, they released another single, “DIE FOR ME,” and announced their forthcoming album, GENESIS. The album promises to showcase their continued evolution and artistic growth. To promote GENESIS, Chase Atlantic embarked on a North American tour, with performances at over 20 venues and the album reaching Spotify’s Top 500 Artists for the first time.

Chase Atlantic’s style, described as “dark alternative pop punctuated by rock and R&B,” reflects their influences from Tame Impala, The Weeknd, The 1975, and The Neighbourhood. Their journey from early cover songs to a successful independent career highlights their resilience and versatility in the music industry.
