About Brent Faiyaz
Brent Faiyaz, born Christopher Brent Wood on September 19, 1995, is a genre-defying R&B artist whose moody, minimalist sound and raw storytelling have made him a standout voice in modern music. Raised in Columbia, Maryland, Brent started making music in his teens, teaching himself how to record and produce. That DIY mindset never left him—even as his career took off.
In 2016, he moved to Los Angeles and released his debut EP A.M. Paradox, earning praise for its stripped-back production and emotional honesty. That same year, he linked up with producers Atu and Dpat to form Sonder, an R&B trio that quickly gained a cult following.
Brent’s big break came with his feature on GoldLink’s 2016 hit “Crew,” which earned a Grammy nomination and went multi-platinum. His solo debut, Sonder Son (2017), showcased his introspective lyrics and haunting vocals. Then came Fuck the World (2020), a bold, emotionally charged project that cracked the Billboard 200’s top 20.
In 2022, he dropped Wasteland, a cinematic, deeply personal album with guest spots from Drake, Tyler, the Creator, and Alicia Keys. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and solidified his place in R&B’s upper echelon. A year later, he released the mixtape Larger Than Life, a nostalgic nod to late ’90s/early 2000s sounds.
Always carving his own lane, Brent launched his label ISO Supremacy in 2023 to uplift new talent while keeping full creative control. Mysterious, authentic, and unapologetically himself—Brent Faiyaz is reshaping the future of R&B.
