About BLP KOSHER
BLP KOSHER, born Benjamin Landy Pavlon on May 3, 2000, in Boca Raton, Florida, is an American rapper known for his unique blend of cultural pride and sharp lyricism. Raised in Deerfield Beach, Broward County, Pavlon’s early life was deeply rooted in two passions: skateboarding and his Jewish heritage. Before venturing into music, he was a semiprofessional skateboarder, a path he began at the age of seven. Pavlon’s talent on the board earned him sponsorships from well-known brands like Habitat Skateboards and HUF Footwear, and he even appeared in several skateboarding videos on the Vice Skateboarding Channel. However, his journey took an unexpected turn in 2021 when he decided to pursue a career in rap, adopting the stage name BLP Kosher.
BLP Kosher’s entry into the music world was marked by his debut on SoundCloud, where he released his first track, “Sweet Potato,” in collaboration with close friend Luh Gary. Initially, rapping was just a hobby for him, something he did for fun. But that changed when he met fellow Jewish rapper Jew Sheisty, who quickly recognized Pavlon’s potential and became his mentor. Jew Sheisty encouraged him to take rapping seriously, helping him develop his style and even suggesting the name BLP Kosher—a nod to Pavlon’s skateboarding roots and his Jewish identity.
The young rapper’s music is a reflection of his diverse influences, which range from Broward County legends like Kodak Black and Glock9ine to his deep connection with Jewish culture. BLP Kosher’s lyrics are known for their clever wordplay, filled with double entendres and references to his skateboarding days. He often incorporates specific skate tricks and figures from the skateboarding world into his bars, demonstrating a unique fusion of his past and present passions. Additionally, his music is heavily infused with his Jewish heritage, evident in song titles like “Nightmare on Shabbat” and “Hanukkahween,” as well as in the themes and lyrics of many of his tracks.
One of BLP Kosher’s breakthrough moments came in 2023 with the release of the single “Mazel Tron,” a collaboration with Detroit rapper BabyTron. The track, which was accompanied by a music video directed by the renowned Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade, quickly went viral, amassing over a million views within a week. This success was a significant milestone in Pavlon’s career, helping him reach a broader audience and solidifying his place in the rap scene.
Later in 2023, BLP Kosher released his debut studio album, Bars Mitzvah, further showcasing his lyrical prowess and cultural pride. The album was supported by the single “Special K,” which continued to build his momentum in the industry. Throughout his music, BLP Kosher remains committed to honoring his Jewish identity, even incorporating his religious practices into his life, such as observing Shabbat and maintaining sobriety after overcoming a past addiction to marijuana.
BLP Kosher’s rise in the music world is a testament to his resilience and dedication. He has managed to carve out a niche for himself by blending the sounds of Broward County with his unique background, creating music that resonates with a wide audience. His distinctive hairstyle, featuring two wicks inspired by his late friend Charmane, who was tragically killed by the police, also serves as a symbol of his personal journey and the losses he has endured. As he continues to release new music and grow his fanbase, BLP Kosher is poised to become a significant figure in contemporary rap, representing a unique intersection of culture, talent, and personal history.
