About Blessd
Stiven Mesa LondoƱo, known professionally as Blessd, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, and rapper who has rapidly risen to prominence in the Latin music scene. He was born on January 27, 2000, in MedellĆn, Colombia. Blessdās early life was marked by humble beginnings and a passion for music that would eventually shape his future. His journey began in ItagüĆ, where he was raised in a working-class family. Despite the challenges he faced, including the separation of his parents, Blessd found solace and inspiration in music, a passion that was ignited by his uncle, a rapper, who introduced him to the world of freestyling and hip-hop.
At the age of 15, Blessd began performing as a hobby, competing in rap battles in BogotĆ”. However, his aspirations were not without obstacles. Lacking the financial resources to record his music, Blessd juggled multiple responsibilities to fund his passion. His day would start early, helping his father and grandparents sell fruits and vegetables at the Central Mayorista de Antioquia, followed by school, where he would sell candies to his classmates. Despite these hardships, Blessdās determination never wavered, and he used whatever money he could save to record his songs in the studio.
Blessdās initial foray into the music industry was as a rapper, sharing his early tracks through WhatsApp to gain local attention. His breakthrough came when his producer, Lil Jay, encouraged him to explore reggaeton, leading to the creation of the song “Una.” This track marked a turning point in his career, becoming his first viral hit in MedellĆn. Lacking the funds for a music video, Blessdās resourcefulness led him to convince a local clothing store owner to invest in the project, resulting in a video that garnered millions of views on YouTube. This success opened the doors for Blessd to perform at schools and small venues across Antioquia, rapidly growing his fanbase.
Blessd’s talent and perseverance soon caught the attention of industry insiders. In 2020, he released “Viernes Social,” a collaboration with Puerto Rican artists, which topped the radio charts in Colombia. His subsequent collaboration with fellow Colombian artist Ryan Castro on “Lejania” further solidified his presence in the Latin music scene. The real breakthrough came in 2021 when his song “Imposible” attracted the attention of global superstar Maluma, leading to a remix that catapulted Blessd into international stardom.
Blessd’s debut album, Hecho en MedellĆn, released in late 2021 under Warner Music Latina, was a testament to his journey and the city that shaped him. The album featured hits like “Medallo,” which reached number one in Colombia and amassed over 100 million views on YouTube. His success extended beyond Colombia, with tours in the United States and Europe, where he performed to sold-out crowds in major cities.
Blessdās music is deeply influenced by his upbringing, blending reggaeton with the sounds of his childhood, including vallenato and salsa. His stage name, Blessd, reflects his deep-rooted faith, which has been a guiding force throughout his life. Despite his rapid rise to fame, Blessd remains grounded, often seen praying with his team before performances. His journey from selling fruits on the streets of MedellĆn to becoming a celebrated artist in the Latin music industry is a testament to his talent, resilience, and unwavering belief in his dreams. Today, Blessd continues to inspire millions with his music, embodying the spirit of MedellĆn and the power of perseverance.
