Black Sherif, born Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong on January 9, 2002, in Konongo, Ghana, is a rising star in the world of music, renowned for his fusion of rap, highlife, reggae, and drill. Raised in the Ashanti Region, he spent his early years in Konongo-Zongo before continuing his education at Kumasi Academy. Later, he attended the University of Professional Studies and, as of 2022, the University of Ghana.

Black Sherif’s music career took off in 2019 with the release of his debut single “Money.” His breakthrough came in 2021 with the tracks “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon,” the latter featuring Nigerian icon Burna Boy. His 2022 hit “Kwaku the Traveller” topped both the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts, marking a milestone in his career. That year, he also released his debut album, The Villain I Never Was, which showcased tracks like “45” and “Soja.”

Blending a mix of genres, Black Sherif often raps in Twi, his native Akan dialect, drawing influence from global stars like Kanye West, Travis Scott, and Sarkodie. In 2023, he made history as the first Ghanaian artist to perform at the UK’s Wireless Festival and won Best Hip Hop at the Soundcity MVP Awards in Lagos.
