Billy Idol

William Michael Albert Broad, professionally known as Billy Idol, is a legendary English singer, songwriter, musician, and actor, born on November 30, 1955, in Stanmore, Middlesex, England. He first gained widespread attention in the 1970s as the frontman of the punk rock band Generation X, playing a key role in shaping the UK’s punk music scene. ​

In 1981, Idol moved to New York City to pursue a solo career, forming a successful collaboration with guitarist Steve Stevens. His debut album in 1982, Billy Idol, included iconic hits like “Dancing with Myself” and “White Wedding,” which received heavy airplay on MTV. He followed this with the 1983 album Rebel Yell, which featured chart-topping tracks like “Rebel Yell” and “Eyes Without a Face,” helping Idol earn double platinum status in the U.S. ​
