Xavier Landum, professionally known as BigXthaPlug, was born on May 12, 1998, in Dallas, Texas. Growing up in a challenging environment, BigXthaPlug was raised by his mother, who once defended their home by shooting at an intruder, and his father, who was known for his strict discipline. His youth was filled with conflict and academic struggles, but he found solace in music, influenced by artists like the Isley Brothers, UGK, Drake, and Lil Wayne. At the age of nine, BigXthaPlug moved to Commerce, Texas, to live with his father, where he excelled in football and attracted attention from Division I scouts.

In 2016, BigXthaPlug enrolled at Crown College in Minnesota, where he played football. However, his college experience was cut short when he was expelled due to legal issues, including selling marijuana on campus. After his expulsion, BigXthaPlug’s life took a darker turn, leading to legal troubles and time spent incarcerated. It was during his time in solitary confinement that he began writing raps, a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of his musical journey.

After his release, BigXthaPlug channeled his energy into music, recording his debut mixtape Bacc from the Dead in 2020. His career took off with the 2022 hit single “Texas,” which earned Gold certification from the RIAA. BigXthaPlug further solidified his place in the industry by founding 600 Entertainment in 2023, signing artists such as Ro$ama and Yung Hood. That same year, his single “Mmhmm” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 65, marking his first major chart success.

In February 2023, BigXthaPlug released his debut album Amar, followed by Take Care in October 2024, both under UnitedMasters. His music, marked by authentic storytelling and Southern influences, continues to resonate with fans, and his personal journey of overcoming adversity only enhances the relatability of his art. Beyond his music, BigXthaPlug is a father, and his son plays a significant role in shaping both his personal and professional life, providing inspiration for his ongoing artistic evolution.
