Big Zuu

Big Zuu, born Zuhair Hassan on August 19, 1995, in London, is a versatile British artist known for his talents as a rapper, grime MC, chef, and television host. Growing up on the Mozart Estate in West London, Zuu comes from a rich cultural background with Sierra Leonean and Lebanese roots. His early life, marked by moving through temporary housing in different London neighborhoods, shaped his resilience and deep sense of community.

Originally, Zuu aimed to pursue a career in social work. He studied community development and youth work at Goldsmiths, University of London, and spent time mentoring young people in East London. But his passion for music eventually took center stage. He started freestyling with friends at local youth clubs and co-founded the MTP (My Team Paid) crew with his cousin, fellow grime artist AJ Tracey, recording their first demos at a nearby youth center.

Musically, Big Zuu draws inspiration from legends like Tupac Shakur and UK grime pioneers such as Jme, P Money, Ghetts, and Skepta. His energetic collaboration with KSI on the 2018 track “Uncontrollable” helped boost his profile within the grime community.

Beyond music, Big Zuu has gained widespread acclaim as the host of the BAFTA-winning TV show “Big Zuu’s Big Eats,” where he combines his culinary skills with his natural charm, cooking for comedians and guests across the UK. His success on screen has led to more opportunities, including hosting “Big Zuu’s Breakfast Show” on ITV and exploring his heritage in the documentary “Big Zuu Goes to Mecca.” With a genuine connection to his roots and community, Big Zuu continues to inspire and entertain across multiple creative fields.
