Ashar is a contemporary British artist best known for her abstract paintings, which convey her deep emotional connection to the landscapes of Somerset, England. Born in Surrey in 1942, Ashar now lives and works in the picturesque Somerset Levels, where the moors and fields around her serve as her primary source of inspiration.

With a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Plymouth University, Ashar’s artistic journey has been shaped by a desire to express the essence of a place rather than depict it realistically. Her work has gained widespread recognition and has been featured in numerous prestigious exhibitions, including multiple showings at the Royal Academy (RA) Summer Exhibition. One of her standout pieces, “Distance Brings Us Close,” was showcased at the RA in 2023.
