Amanda Reid is a remarkable Australian Paralympian whose talents stretch across swimming, cycling, and snowboarding. Born on November 12, 1996, in Blaxland, New South Wales, she proudly represents her Indigenous heritage as a Guringai and Wemba Wemba woman. Living with cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability, Amanda has turned her challenges into motivation, rising as a symbol of strength, excellence, and advocacy.

Her athletic career began on the ice in short-track speed skating, where she set records by holding titles across Australia, New Zealand, and all states in her age group. At just 15, she represented Australia in swimming at the 2012 London Paralympics, placing fifth in the 100m breaststroke. But her story didn’t stop there.

In 2015, Amanda shifted her focus to para-cycling, where she quickly made her mark. She won a silver medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympics and went on to capture gold in the 500m time trial at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympics, breaking world records along the way.

Not one to be confined to a single sport, Amanda also took on para-snowboarding and won gold at the 2023 World Para Snowboard Championships. Her achievements have earned her numerous accolades, including the Medal of the Order of Australia and NAIDOC Sportsperson of the Year.
