Alikiba

Alikiba, born Ali Saleh Kiba on November 29, 1986, in Kigoma, Tanzania, is one of East Africa’s most celebrated musicians. Known for his smooth vocals and signature blend of Bongo Flava, Afropop, and R&B, he has left an indelible mark on the Tanzanian music industry.

His breakthrough came in 2008 with the release of his debut album Cinderella, which became one of East Africa’s best-selling records. Hits like “Cinderella,” “Nakshi Mrembo,” and “Usiniseme” quickly cemented his reputation as a powerhouse in the region’s music scene.

After a brief hiatus, Alikiba made a remarkable comeback in 2014 with chart-topping singles like “Mwana” and “Chekecha.” His resurgence was met with critical acclaim, earning him six awards at the 2015 Tanzania Music Awards, including Artist of the Year. His international success continued in 2016 when he won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act, further proving his influence beyond Tanzania.

Beyond music, Alikiba is an entrepreneur and the founder of Kings Music, his own record label. He also holds a leadership role at Rockstar4000 and has been involved in brand endorsements, including a collaboration with R. Kelly for Airtel Africa. A talented footballer, he was once invited to play for the Tanzania National Team.

In his personal life, Alikiba married Amina Khalef in 2018, drawing media attention. With a career spanning over two decades, he remains an icon in African music, captivating audiences with his soulful sound and timeless artistry.
