Aitana

Aitana Ocaña Morales, known mononymously as Aitana, was born on June 27, 1999, and is a prominent Spanish singer and songwriter. Her rise to fame began in 2017 when she participated in series nine of the Spanish reality television talent competition Operación Triunfo. Her captivating performances and undeniable talent earned her the position of runner-up, just behind Amaia Romero. During her time on the show, Aitana released the single “Lo malo” in collaboration with fellow contestant Ana Guerra. The song quickly became a sensation, reaching number one in Spain and earning a five-times platinum certification. It also became an anthem during International Women’s Day demonstrations in Spain.

Following the conclusion of Operación Triunfo, Aitana signed a significant record deal with Universal Music Spain. She wasted no time in launching her solo career, releasing her debut single “Teléfono” in July 2018. The song was an instant hit, becoming her second number-one single. Its music video broke records, becoming the most-watched Vevo music video within twenty-four hours in Spain. The success of “Teléfono” set the stage for Aitana’s debut extended play (EP), Tráiler, released in November 2018. The EP topped the charts and became the second most-streamed album within twenty-four hours in Spain. Its second single, “Vas a quedarte,” further cemented Aitana’s popularity by becoming her third chart-topping hit and the most-streamed song in its first twenty-four hours on Spotify Spain.

In June 2019, Aitana released her debut studio album, Spoiler, which also topped the charts and received critical acclaim. The album showcased her versatility as an artist, blending various musical styles and solidifying her status as a leading figure in the Spanish music scene. The album earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album and was supported by the successful Play Tour, which visited numerous indoor arenas across Spain.

Aitana continued to build on her success with the release of her sophomore album, 11 Razones, in December 2020. The album marked a departure from her previous work, embracing a pop rock sound reminiscent of the early 2000s. The singles “+ (Más)” featuring Cali y El Dandee and “Corazón Sin Vida” featuring Sebastián Yatra were particularly successful, both reaching the top five in Spain.
