About A Boogie Wit da Hoodie

Artist Julius Dubose, born December 6, 1995, in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City, is widely recognized by his stage name A Boogie wit da Hoodie. Growing up in a challenging environment, Dubose began rapping at age twelve, influenced by artists like Kanye West and 50 Cent. His early years were marked by frequent legal troubles, particularly related to selling cannabis and narcotics. After being sent to Florida as a form of punishment, Dubose, while under house arrest, honed his craft, building an amateur studio in his apartment. This period proved pivotal as he shifted his focus entirely to music, balancing various jobs to support his aspirations.

Dubose’s music career took off with his 2015 single “Temporary,” released on SoundCloud. His encounter with producer Myster Whyte during this time helped refine his sound and introduced him to professional studio work. In 2016, Dubose returned to New York and, alongside fellow artist Don Q, founded Highbridge the Label. His debut mixtape, Artist (2016), showcased his ability to blend melodic hooks with emotional lyrics, gaining him significant recognition. The mixtape’s success was further solidified by the release of Highbridge the Label: The Takeover Vol.1, a collaborative project that established him as a rising star in the hip-hop scene.

A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s debut studio album, The Bigger Artist (2017), marked a significant milestone in his career. The album, which featured collaborations with Chris Brown, Kodak Black, and 21 Savage, was praised for its catchy hooks and lyrical depth. It peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, propelled by the success of the single “Drowning,” which climbed to the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. His second album, Hoodie SZN (2018), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and became one of the most played albums of 2019, cementing his status as a major player in the industry.

Dubose’s third album, Artist 2.0 (2020), continued his success, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200. The album was supported by singles like “Mood Swings” and “Reply,” and featured a range of high-profile collaborations. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dubose’s ability to release new music and maintain his presence in the industry was evident. The deluxe version of Artist 2.0, released in mid-2020, included the single “Bleed,” which further solidified his position in the music scene.

After a brief hiatus, Dubose returned in 2021 with the single “24 Hours” featuring Lil Durk, which achieved platinum status. The release of his fourth studio album, Me vs. Myself, in December 2022, marked a new chapter in his career. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 and was followed by a successful tour. In 2023, he continued to expand his repertoire with the release of singles and collaborations, including contributions to the soundtrack of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and a notable performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Looking ahead, A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s fifth studio album, Better Off Alone, was announced for release in mid-2024. Ahead of its release, he put out a prequel EP titled B4 BOA and subsequent singles that further demonstrated his versatility and enduring appeal in the hip-hop genre. With a career marked by significant achievements and a continuous evolution in his musical style, A Boogie wit da Hoodie remains a prominent figure in contemporary rap and hip-hop.
