38 Spesh, born Justin Harrell on December 29, 1984, in Rochester, New York, is a prominent rapper, producer, and key figure in East Coast hip-hop. Growing up in the musical environment of Rochester, also known as “Flour City,” Spesh was deeply influenced by his father, a DJ, who introduced him to the world of hip-hop. This early exposure ignited his passion for rap and music production.

By his teenage years, Spesh was already honing his craft, creating beats and writing rhymes influenced by hip-hop legends like Nas, Jay-Z, and Kool G Rap. At just 14, he produced his first record, which set the foundation for his musical career. His early recognition came through appearances on DJ Green Lantern’s “Invasion Radio” and features in XXL Magazine, which helped him gain the attention of the hip-hop world.

Despite facing setbacks, including a period of incarceration, Spesh rebounded by relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, where he focused on his music full-time. He reconnected with DJ Green Lantern, leading to a series of successful mixtapes and albums under his own Trust Comes First Music label. His solo albums like Time Served (2012) and collaborations, such as Son of G Rap with Kool G Rap (2018), further solidified his reputation.
