After high school, Johnson attended Jacksonville State University and served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve for eight years before moving to Nashville in 2000 to chase his music dreams.
In 2005, he signed with BNA Records and released his debut single, “The Dollar,” in 2006. He soon transitioned to Mercury Nashville Records, where he released his second album, That Lonesome Song (2008).
