Creepy Nuts

Creepy Nuts is a Japanese hip-hop duo known for their unique fusion of rap and turntablism, blending sharp lyricism with expert DJing. Formed in 2013, the group consists of rapper R-Shitei (Takahiro Mori) and DJ Matsunaga (Yuto Matsunaga), who first met as teenagers at a rap and DJ event in Osaka. Their shared passion for hip-hop quickly led to a dynamic partnership that would reshape the Japanese rap scene.

R-Shitei gained recognition as an elite freestyler, becoming the only artist to win the UMB Grand Championship three years in a row, while DJ Matsunaga earned global acclaim by winning the 2019 DMC World DJ Championship—one of the most prestigious DJ competitions in the world. Their individual skills, combined with their undeniable chemistry, set them apart from their peers.

In 2017, Creepy Nuts signed with Sony Music and made their major label debut, captivating audiences with their witty lyrics, energetic beats, and genre-blending sound. They quickly built a dedicated following in Japan, but their international breakthrough came in 2024 with Bling-Bang-Bang-Born, the opening theme for Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2. The track dominated the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts, becoming their most successful release to date.

Over the years, they’ve released several acclaimed albums, including Creep Show (2018), Case (2021), and Ensemble Play (2022). Their fourth album, LEGION, dropped in February 2025, further cementing their legacy. With their sharp lyricism, electrifying performances, and fearless approach to music, Creepy Nuts continues to push the boundaries of Japanese hip-hop, earning respect both at home and abroad.
