Yungest Moonstar, the elusive stage name of the Italian artist tha Sup, has finally released his much-anticipated debut mixtape, sFaCioLaTe. This project has been surrounded by intrigue and speculation, reflecting Moonstar’s unconventional approach to music and his penchant for maintaining a mysterious persona.

The title sFaCioLaTe is derived from Roman dialect, meaning something that has gone wrong or is mistaken. In local youth slang, it also connotes losing control and acting irrationally. This concept aligns with the mixtape’s reputation for being experimental and chaotic, showcasing Moonstar’s intent to push the boundaries of conventional music. The project’s journey began with a teaser on January 20, 2021, when Moonstar posted an Instagram story revealing a folder named “SFACIOLATE MIXTAPE,” igniting excitement among his followers.

The anticipation was further fueled when Moonstar announced that the mixtape would be released in multiple parts, with around 40 tracks planned. However, the mixtape’s release was fraught with delays and controversies. The first single, “uNa DiReZioNe giUsTa,” a reinterpretation of Neffa’s “Lontano dal tuo sole,” featuring Neffa himself, was released on August 27, 2021. The second single, “bLu,” followed on September 15, 2021, but both tracks were ultimately excluded from the final tracklist, leaving fans eager for more.

The mixtape’s progress remained uncertain until November 24, 2023, when “SELEÇAO (prod. MILES) 07.07.23” was released as a preview. This track offered a glimpse into the mixtape’s experimental sound but did little to quell the growing anticipation.

The mixtape’s release was marred by public disputes. In March 2024, Moonstar accused certain individuals of exploiting his work for personal gain, leading to a social media clash. These controversies added another layer of drama to the mixtape’s release and intensified the public’s curiosity.

On July 21, 2024, just days before the mixtape’s release, Moonstar hinted that the mix and master folder for sFaCioLaTe might not even exist, further stoking speculation. This was followed by the release of UFO_jaZZ_boY, a video game inspired by Moonstar’s vision, which included a hidden announcement of the mixtape’s release date. The game, styled similarly to “Only Up!,” allowed players to explore Moonstar’s imaginative world and concluded with the mixtape’s release set for July 26, 2024.

Adding to the intrigue, Moonstar unveiled the mixtape cover on July 25, featuring the title “Pt. 1,” suggesting that sFaCioLaTe might be only the beginning of a larger body of work.
