Tsunami Sea

Spiritbox’s second studio album, Tsunami Sea, arrived on March 7, 2025, via Pale Chord and Rise Records. Following the success of their 2021 debut, Eternal Blue, this album marks a bold step forward for the band, blending elements of metalcore, progressive metal, and electronic influences to create a sound that is both intense and dynamic.

The album was shaped by the band’s journey through the COVID-19 pandemic, which had previously delayed their debut release and disrupted their touring schedule. Despite these setbacks, Spiritbox remained resilient, releasing two EPs—Rotoscope in 2022 and The Fear of Fear in 2023—before fully diving into the creative process for Tsunami Sea.

Musically, the album ventures into new territory, incorporating unexpected elements like spoken word, electronic beats, drum and bass, alternative rock, pop, and even touches of EDM. Frontwoman Courtney LaPlante’s signature vocal versatility shines throughout, seamlessly transitioning from hauntingly melodic passages to raw, guttural screams.

Leading up to the album’s release, Spiritbox unveiled several singles to build anticipation. Songs like “Soft Spine,” which takes aim at industry fakes with a rebellious punk energy, and “Perfect Soul,” which delves into themes of self-perception, showcased the band’s evolving sound. Meanwhile, the title track stands out with its dramatic contrast of delicate melodies and thunderous instrumentals.

To support the album, Spiritbox embarked on a European headlining tour in early 2025, playing in cities like London, Paris, and Berlin. A North American tour, featuring support from Loathe, Dying Wish, and Gel, is set to follow in April. Tsunami Sea cements Spiritbox’s place as one of the most innovative and boundary-pushing bands in modern metal.
