Undeterred, he continued to stoke anticipation, vowing in January 2024 to abstain from cutting or shaving his hair until the album was completed. The album’s official announcement came on March 8, 2024, with Future and Metro releasing a trailer that featured a soundbite from the late rapper Prodigy. This trailer revealed the album’s title, We Don’t Trust You, and its release date. Notably, it also teased a sequel, We Still Don’t Trust You, set to drop on April 12.

Promotional efforts included the release of three singles, each accompanied by music videos. “Type Shit,” featuring Travis Scott and Playboi Carti, premiered alongside the album on March 22. “Young Metro,” featuring The Weeknd, followed three days later.
